All about me

Name: Richard Harris

Age: 43

Occupation: Accountant

Status: Married to Angela

Children: Thomas [8] and James [5]

Sporting Background:
I've always been involved in some form of sport. I represented my school in both football and rugby. I won several national junior championships in karate and represented Wales at under 16 level.

As I reached my later teenage years and early twenties I found better things to do with my time namely drinking and more drinking.

During my mid twenties, I rediscovered my love of football and started playing in the local league. With application and hard work and despite a lack of natural talent I managed to play in the Welsh Reserve league.

At the age of 37 I decided to retire from football and to take up triathlon (seemed a good idea at the time).

Unfortunately I didn't have a background in swimming, cycling or running. My theory was as I'd ridden bikes and swam since I was a child I would concentrate on running as I didn't really enjoy running much at that point. As I found out pretty quickly I was pretty poor in all three disciplines

I haven't posted anything on here for quite a while.

After last year's relative success at Ironman Wales (i.e. finishing), I decided that I'd give myself the target of finding out what my stand alone marathon time is. I was aiming for the very optimpistic target of 3:30

However, the years appear to have been unkind to my weary limbs, as I was unable to run the required hard sessions to push for this goal. so it was with a heavy heart that I decided that I would not be partaking in a marathon this year, or any other year to come to that.

But the upside of this decision, is that I am now focused on my tri training and there is defianely a spring in my step

Onwards & upwards
