M&S or American Express.

Haven't had a quote from them yet but these may well be worth a look
http://pedalcover.co.uk/
All your bikes covered – no need to specify
No need for separate bike insurance
Competition, training & leisure at home and abroad
£1 million building cover for your home
£75,000 home contents cover
Switching is easy – no need to wait for your home insurance renewal date

I use pedalcover, haven't had to make a claim but he's very thorough.
Bikes are covered away from home as well.

I've just used John Lewis and the level of cover seems good. I've backed this up by keeping receipts for parts and taking photos to substantiate any future claim.
I had to swap as I realised the max bike value on my Barclays policy was vastly insufficient despite being told otherwise when I signed up last year!

I'm intending to go with them, or at least get a quote, when my current policies expire, but the above is my only doubt. As a relatively new company, they can sound amazing but if when the time comes to claim they wriggle out of paying out, it's not so good. I'm not claiming they would, but without positive stories of successful claims, it is a niggle in the back of my mind. Having said that, I've never claimed on my separate house or bike insurance to date, so I cant really be sure they are that great either!
One other question someone might already know - can you strip out the buildings insurance element to reduce the premium, or it is a "locked in" part of the policy? Living in a leasehold flat, that's taken care of by the managing agent through my service charge, and unless it can be eliminated so I'm not paying for something I dont need/can't use, I'm guessing it might make the policy not as great a deal as it otherwise might be.

Stenard - your best bet is to call Pedalcover and talk to Darren direct - he's extremely helpful. I think he does offer contents only.
as for claiming, I have no idea what this would be like having not claimed on a house policy for nearly 20 years after a washing machine went into meltdown when we were out.

I just had an email from PedalCover about their new club affiliate programme. I'll mention it to my own club as well, but to be honest it was tritalk that got me on to PedalCover so I was wondering if there was some way the site could get an affiliate link and any money generated could go into covering the hosting fees etc?
As I don't know who runs the behind the scenes stuff, it would need someone who does to coordinate I would guess, but come renewal time, if the discounts still work and aren't just for new policies, I'd certainly be happy to put tritalk down as my "club" to give something back.

Good idea stendard. I'm looking to switch as well at some point so might be in the same situation.
