Dartford & White Oak Triathlon club are pleased to announce the first ever Dartford Bridge Triathlon. This will be the first ever standard distance Triathlon in North Kent. The race will take place on Sunday 27th June and is only £55 to enter.
The swim will be in the South Lake that will be open for open water training next year. The Bike will be 6 Laps on a traffic free bike course followed by 3 laps around the north Lake. The whole race will take place within 2 miles of the Lake so making it a spectator friendly event.
All race details are now on our web site www.bridgetriathlon.co.uk. We are limited to 500 entries for the first year so enter early to avoid disappointment.
Whether you are taking part in your first Triathlon or a seasoned veteran we hope you enjoy our race.

triman,

I can't get the link to work. Could be a work firewall issue but they're usually ok.

Cheers,

H.

I'm on the lookout for races in the south-east next year and that looks really tempting...... Cool

Very keen on the 'traffic free bike' part of the race. Smile

Hi Drainy
We are tiring to sort out a deal with some of the local Hotels to get a cheaper rate for any one that is taking part in the race. I should know by the end of next week and will add it to the web site. There is a camp site down the road in Abbey wood. I will check it out also next week to see if itís any good. I have asked the council if people could camp on the race site, but gave me a big no.

As you are a local you should try and come down to the lake next year on a Monday night when we start club swim training. We are going to be letting non club members join in the swim sessions, but they must be a BTF member to be covered by insurance.

I could not agree more the nearest Olympic Triathlon that does not cost a fortune is over 50 miles away. Itís taken 18 months to get this of the ground and there where times when I could have given up on all of it. In the end if it works then it was worth all the time spent in meeting after meeting with the police/council and Kent highways. The best thing is if it all goís smoothly we should be able to take up the entry to over 1000 for 2011

Bad scheduling as it conflicts with the Lakeside Triathlon on the same day :

We only found out about there race a few weeks ago. We have been working on this date since last March as is was a clear day. We have spoken to one step beyond about trying to change one of the dates. They like us could not change the date of there race due to the amount of involvement with the police and highways. Itís a shame as I would have been interested in taking part in thereís as a warm up for Ireland the following weekend. We will make sure that they donít clash in 2011 and try to keep a 2 week gap between them. There are so many new races on the calendar for next year it would be hard not to clash with some one. With a bit of they will both fill up as they are both different distances.

Itís about time we had an Olympic distance race in the area. I will make a change to sleep in my own bed the night before a race and be home in time for lunch.
Well done good luck with the race.

Just for your information, this is NOT the first standard distance tri in North Kent. Team Outrageous have been running "Olympic" - now "standard" distance tri's from Leybourne Lakes for 10 years, albeit we had a 3 year break before returning this year Very Happy Very Happy

Sorry mike I should have said the First Closed road Olympic Distance Triathlon in North West Kent. How could I ever forget that hill in yours?
and we are inside the M25
We have had a good response so far with over 80 entries in just 5 weeks.

I see you have got half your up and running again this year. If I can get my legs going I may give it a go. Are you going to have the Olympic Tri as well!

Hi John, yes we have the olympic on again - it's called The Return of the Birling Beast. You know what that means Twisted Evil
Good news with your entries - I am trying to get some of our members to come and race - especially novices and timid cyclists Very Happy
